Welcome to a new month and a new year, everyone! 2026 is full of potential and January is going to help set us all up to make the most of it.
The year begins on a very productive note, with Mercury joining the Sun, Mars, and Venus in no-nonsense Capricorn on the 1st, helping us make the most of this new year and get clear on all the things we want to achieve. Capricorn is a very goal-oriented sign, so with so much planetary activity happening here, we can all set out our ambitions for 2026 and establish the necessary steps in order to make them happen within the next twelve months.

With Jupiter in deep-feeling Cancer, this will be a wonderful time to remember that Capricorn season can’t be all about hard work, and that we need to carve out time to tend to our own emotions and desires. It is very rare to experience all these oppositions so closely together, so these five days or so will feel like a lengthy firework show, with plenty to keep us captivating.
Loving Venus is the first planet to decamp from Capricorn and move into Aquarius on the 17th, where she will be operating for the next three and a half weeks. Venus in Aquarius requires cerebral stimulation as well as emotional and physical stimulation, so this is a time for brainiacs to shine on the world stage, and in more intimate settings. Aquarius is also very independent and likes to create its own road, so aesthetic Venus likes to rebel a bit in the sign of the Water Bearer, and we may accordingly choose to step outside our usual styles to make some new fashion statements.
The Capricorn New Moon occurs on the 18th, acting as a useful springboard for all those new ideas and projects we’ve been contemplating since the year began. This is a very positive and productive lunation, so if you don’t want to hit the ground running as soon as January begins, you can wait until this New Moon before throwing yourself into the fray. Projects begun at this time will prove especially promising, so don’t be shy about planting new seeds, because you could have wonderful fruit to show for it in six months at the corresponding Capricorn Full Moon.
The Sun leaves Capricorn the very next day to join Venus in Aquarius for its annual visit. Aquarius season is the perfect time for us all to think outside the box and consider new approaches to old problems, because sometimes we need to usher in fresh energy if we want to solve the issue at hand.
