Your Perfect Yoga Pose, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Medical astrology is a branch of astrology which links weaknesses in the body to certain zodiac signs. Interestingly enough, you’ll often find people you know will have issues in the areas linked to their Sun sign.

To prevent injury and illness, here are some fun yoga poses that target the areas you may want to strengthen! We’ve listed the body parts that are a natural weakness for each sign but don’t go getting all paranoid thinking you have major health problems. If we only look at our Sun sign in our birth charts, we don’t get the whole picture of the unique aspects of ourselves. Similarly, if we only stretch or work on certain parts of our bodies, the rest will get neglected and weaken over time. We should stretch and strengthen the whole body to keep our energy flowing and our systems running smoothly.

We have much more to our birth charts than just our Sun signs; people with a certain zodiac sign showing up a lot in their chart are probably more likely to have issues related to the body parts listed. That being said, any sign can try any pose on this list, for a complete yoga flow, try doing all of the moves below in any order that feels good for you!


Because Aquarians often have a natural weakness in their circulation system and ankles, eagle pose is the perfect yoga pose to target both of those things!


The natural weaknesses of a Pisces are in the toes and feet, as well as the lymphatic system. For the lymphatic system, a downward-facing dog pose is great! For the toes and feet, warrior 1 and tree pose will get them strong and boost circulation.


The head is linked to Aries, so inversion poses that put the heart above the head, are the best to get your blood to flow to your head. Headstands or standing forward folds are both great.


The throat and neck are the known areas of weakness for the Taurus, as well as the thyroid. The best pose for this area is plow pose, which has tremendous health benefits for your whole body.


The areas to look out for are the arms, lungs, shoulders, and nervous system. Backbends such as wheel pose, camel pose and upward-facing dog are going to help the nervous system, lungs arms, and shoulders.


The chest and stomach are the weak points in a Cancer. That means doing twists and core strengthening exercises will be great. Chaturanga with ujjayi breathing can also build the chest muscles and health in this area.


The spine and heart are the major areas to watch with a Leo. You can do spine strengthening exercises like revolved extended side angle as well as bridge pose, which improves heart health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.


The digestive and intestinal tract are the areas to watch with Virgo. To keep healthy, twisting poses such as a chair twist can help keep the digestion regular and intestines clear.


The lower back, kidneys, and glutes are the places you want to strengthen for Libras. Seated forward fold, half-sleeping pigeon pose, or fire log pose are all going to help relieve these areas and the tension that can build in them from all the sitting we do.


The sexual organs and bowels are the natural weaknesses for Scorpio. To improve this you can do both butterfly pose and a seated twist called half lord of the fishes. Poses that stretch your hips, strengthen your lower abdomen and core as well as stretch your lumbar spine will help you.


The sciatic nerve, as well as hips and thighs, are the body parts linked to the adventurous Sagittarius. Try reclined hand to big toe pose variations and runner’s lunge.


The knees and joints are a point of weakness for the Capricorn and so a daily set of sun salutations with chaturanga can help stabilize all the joints and improve the oxygen content of the blood, which delivers it to the constantly-growing bones.
