It’s Summer! Or at least, almost Summer. We are still springing into it, but it is close enough to taste and smell!
Spring and Summer are exciting seasons because everything seems so fresh and exciting. It also feels a little lazier.
During these seasons, we all want to take care of ourselves a little more. Amidst wedding season, grad season, recital season, and so much more, it’s easy to feel frazzled. When that happens, your spirituality can suffer, and so can your overall sense of self.
The answer for that? Self-care!
If you don’t know how to do that, today we are going to explore self-care by the zodiac sign element. Let’s get to it!
Self-Care by the Element
Every zodiac sign is part of an element family. There are 12 zodiac signs and 4 elements, with each zodiac sign belonging to one of each of the elements. They are as follows:
- Water element/Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
- Earth element/Earth signs: Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo
- Fire element/Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
- Air element/Air signs: Libra, Gemini, Aquarius
Each of the elements for the zodiac signs has a specific set of traits and qualities.
Water signs are intuitive healers, for example, and lead with emotions. Self-care for them will be emotion-based.
Earth signs are planners and hard workers, and they need self-care that pampers them after a long day.
You get the picture.
Self-care is health care. You can’t take care of anybody else until you have taken care of yourself. Nurture your soul, in whatever way possible.

Where’s the Fire?
You Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) not only love to be where the action is – you love to be the action! A gratifying way for you to nourish your soul is to develop a skill or interest that you’re passionate about. Most of you will have no problem finding something to pour your passion into.
In fact, you may even have trouble narrowing it down to just one thing! But believe me, it’ll be worth it when you do. You’ll be stimulated by not only the activity itself, but also the accolades from friends and family that the mastery of your craft will surely bring.
Another form of self-care after a long day includes fire. Light a fire if you have a fireplace, which you are more likely to own than any other element. Or, set up some candles in the bathroom and have a long bath. Incense is also a form of self-care for you.
And when that fails, tap into those passions. Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
Cultivate Your Flow
Flow is so critical to a happy life – especially for you Water signs out there (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). You’re so perceptive to others that it’s easy for you to forget to “tend your own garden” (or “stream” in your case). It’s important for you to take care of yourself. Where are there metaphorical sticks collecting, blocking or altering the flow of your energy?
For example, if you know you get carried along with whatever one particular person says or does and that makes you late for things that are important to you, then explore how you can change your interactions to meet both of your needs.
Take a look at your relationships, work, health, and emotions to see where you can allow for more flow. Then choose a couple of small steps you can take now to free yourself up to “go with the flow” later on!
But for those moments when you are coming home, kicking your shoes off, and plopping on the couch, bring some water around you. Have a water fountain in your den where you watch TV, keep a water and scent diffuser in your bedroom, or just take a long bath after a long day. Don’t let anybody interrupt it. If you need to make a family rule that nobody bothers you for 30 minutes in the bath, do it. That is self-care for Water signs.
Stand on Solid Ground
Take good care of yourself by being sure that the life you’re building is the life of your dreams. That’s the beauty of life – you get to choose which seeds to water!
For now, simply take stock of what you’d like to establish in your life. Once you do this you’ll be able to begin laying the groundwork for your optimal future!
But at the same time, getting your hands dirty also feels good to you. So after work, find a way to have fun with that. Some Earth signs find weeding their garden a form of meditation. Take a pottery class, garden, or do something that has your hands busy but fills your soul that isn’t work. You know what it is. Now it’s time to put that in your calendar.
Feed your hungry mind with some yummy new info! Choose an area you’re fascinated by and learn more about it – the constellations, painting, some random new topic you just heard about. Just go with what works for you.
With your nimble mind and natural gift of gab, others will enjoy listening while you share your newfound wealth of knowledge!
For you, you need to feel the wind underneath you to feel like you are relaxed. Go for a long walk, a long drive with the windows down, or go and fly an actual kite! When the wind moves, you feel soothed. Find a way to let your hair down and let your quiet time flow. Another way you can enjoy self-care is some downtime with your favorite gadget, as Air signs love their tech toys. An hour on a Sunday with your favorite app or game is the kind of self-care that reboots you. Whatever floats your boat and puts the wind in your sails, you need to start doing that more. Plan for it and make the time!
Self-Care is Essential
Self-care is health care. That means when we don’t take time for ourselves, our health suffers. Even if our psychological health suffers, everything else suffers. It’s so important to physically, spiritually, and emotionally take care of ourselves. We do that with self-care.
