Welcome to November, everyone! This is a month of fast and slow energies, one when we experience major changes, all the while looking in the rearview mirror as the past comes back for one final yearly visit.
The first important event occurs on the 4th, when warrior Mars wraps up its visit to Scorpio and moves on to freedom-seeking Sagittarius until mid-December. This six-week cycle will encourage us all to seek out new adventures and broaden our horizons, so life will feel positively boundless thanks to this transit, although other planets will be doing their best to keep our feet planted firmly on the ground.
The 5th ushers in a much more grounding moment when the skies host the annual Taurus Full Moon, which is all about feeling secure in your surroundings and generally sticking to what you know, but making sure to stop and smell the roses while you’re at it. Use this as a time to remind yourself of the beauty in the world, and also pay attention to any projects you’ve been faithfully hammering away at behind the scenes, as they may be ready to reach a powerful culmination.
The next day, on the 6th, Venus (the ruler of Taurus) will slip into Scorpio and exchange her diaphanous robes for something sexier. The Goddess of Love is a little more leather and a little less lace when she is occupying the sign of the Scorpion, and can make us all feel more intense when it comes to romance. Our desires can also become much more extreme during this cycle, so don’t be surprised if your inner fire seems to burn even more brightly than usual.
On the 7th, rebellious Uranus will retrograde out of mercurial Gemini and back up into Taurus, where it will remain into next April, marking the last time this changeable planet will visit Taurus for about 80 years. Uranus has already spent the last seven years in Taurus, and only left a few months ago to dip its toes into Gemini, but now it is returning to this fertile sign to cause a few last shake-ups while also making sure you’ve acclimated to all the changes the last half dozen years or so have brought your way. Both you and the world have changed in major ways since this cycle began all the way back in 2018.
The energy slows down considerably on the 9th, when Mercury turns retrograde in Sagittarius, making it only too easy for that sign’s tendency to shoot from the hip to make us shove our feet in our mouths much more easily. Remember that the general rule with Mercury retrograde is to avoid beginning anything new; instead, focus on revising, reviewing, and returning to old projects that could stand another look-see or more time and attention.
Lucky Jupiter will turn retrograde in Cancer only two days later. Jupiter has been bringing a lot more blessings to our domestic situations and also adding more emphasis on the important women in our lives ever since it entered the sign of the Crab. Now, however, the biggest planet in our solar system will spend the next four months asleep at the wheel, giving us the chance to make better use of the opportunities we may have missed in our haste when Jupiter was moving full steam ahead. Consider this your chance to go back and capitalize on what you already have, while also nurturing other projects that have yet to receive enough of your attention.
Mercury retrogrades out of Sagittarius and backs up into Scorpio on the 18th where it will eventually complete this cycle. Mercury in Scorpio is a lot like a detective reading between the lines and ferreting out any hidden secrets, but when retrograde, it has the tendency to stir up unneeded drama or create situations that are entirely fictitious and merely based upon suspicion. Don’t let yourself get wild ideas or you allow your imagination to run away with you, because it won’t serve you. Watch your tongue and don’t indulge in any gossip or hearsay.
The Scorpio New Moon arrives on the 20th, ushering in fresh energy and new opportunities to plant seeds, although with Mercury still retrograde, these beginnings may feel rather slow in starting. Use this time to strategize and think about potential plans you can begin to initiate in December when the skies will be more friendly and supportive of new projects and ambitions.
The Sun is leaping into Sagittarius on the 21st, joining fiery Mars for the next month. After all the intensity of Scorpio season, it is time to open a few windows and let in a fresh breeze. It will take a little time for Mercury to get back to its usual speed, but we will begin to notice the benefits pouring in almost immediately as the messenger planet clears away any mental cobwebs and helps us see and think clearly once again.
Last but not least, Venus will leave Scorpio and dive into Sagittarius on the 30th, removing her scandalous leather attire for something bohemian that will be perfect for hitting the road and seeing more of the world.
