Big, bold, and brave Jupiter is about to turn direct on March 10th, 2026, ending its retrograde in Water sign Cancer after being retrograde since November 11th, 2025.
This retrograde occurred entirely in Cancer, which Jupiter first entered on June 9th, 2025, and remains until June 30th, 2026.

What is Retrograde & Direct in Astrology?
A planet or body is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the zodiac (don’t worry, it just looks that way). Planets operate in reverse when retrograde, and they can get thrown off since forward motion is the normal motion.
Jupiter retrogrades every year for about 4 months at a time, and since Jupiter is the planet of expansion and luck, Jupiter retrograde can slow this down. We’re not as busy pursuing new ventures and plans, and we work on resolving karmic energy.
This Jupiter retrograde occurred in Cancer, the sign of emotions. That means the retrograde likely kicked up emotional energy, as well as karmic issues and baggage that was impacting us at our core and shaking our foundation.
Cancer wants comfort and familiarity to feel emotionally stable and secure, so the Jupiter retrograde in Cancer may have meant we didn’t have as many opportunities for that. We may have been uneasy and uncomfortable.
Jupiter retrograde has fairly strong karmic energy. Part of the reason for the slowing of pursuits is to give us time to reflect, inspect, and get in tune with our karmic baggage so we can release it for good.
The Jupiter retrograde started back in November, and it was just 2 days after a Mercury retrograde period began. Things may have felt WAY off at that point, and how things were going shifted in the exact opposite direction.
Since then, Saturn and Neptune have changed signs, moving from fellow Water sign Pisces to Fire sign Aries, and kicked off the major paradigm shift for this year. This is continuing for another 2 months or so since Uranus is also changing signs (moving from Taurus to Gemini in April).
We’re in the thick of it now, and we’re hyper-focused on what is happening, what’s to come, and what is required of us. Saturn and Neptune in Aries have meant we have to take action and make things happen.
Jupiter ending its retrograde frees up opportunities that may have felt stuck, tied up, and unusable. We can start to see what’s possible, and this can give us a chance to build something big and new and shiny, and from the ground up so it’ll last for a long time.
Jupiter Direct 2026: Jupiter Trine Mercury
Jupiter direct occurs trine, which is a beneficial aspect, Mercury in Pisces (and this is exact on March 9th, the day before Jupiter direct). Mercury is also retrograde for Jupiter direct (ends March 20th).
Mercury rules communication and the mind, so how we talk and express ourselves might be operating differently when Jupiter turns direct thanks to Mercury retrograde. But this can benefit us thanks to the positive aspect to Jupiter direct.
We can find information we need, put together plans we can take action with fast, and our minds can be an asset. Ideas can flow, and we can feel understood.
With Jupiter in Cancer, the heart and mind can work well together, and this helps us stay focused and make the best choices.
Jupiter Direct 2026: Virgo Lunar Eclipse
One week before Jupiter direct, on March 3rd, there is a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo. We’re coming out of eclipse season with Jupiter direct, and Jupiter direct comes on the heels of this eclipse.
Lunar Eclipses stir up emotions, and that can be extra strong with Jupiter in Cancer, the sign of emotions. We may feel this eclipse more than usual, and we try to use it in the best ways possible.
In Virgo, we might be focused on getting the little things done, finishing up a small plan or project, getting organized, and bringing structure and order to our lives. This all helps us get going.
We just have to make sure we don’t go too far and demand too much of ourselves. Thankfully, Jupiter is here to help keep that from happening!
Jupiter Direct 2026: Clear Out in Big Ways
The day after Jupiter direct, March 11th, we have the 4th Quarter Moon in Sagittarius, the sign Jupiter rules. Also called the Last Quarter Moon, this lunar phase is a time to clean up, clear out, release, and finish.
In Sagittarius, this sign is big and loud, so what we clean up, clear out, release, and finish can be something big, or done in bold ways, or requires us to be brave.
Since Jupiter rules Sagittarius, we do have some Jupiter luck on our side, so it can work out well, and may end up helping us with some of the work we’re doing, taking away blocks and freeing us up.
Jupiter Direct 2026 by Element

Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) may work well with others with this Jupiter direct. The people in your life can be more helpful than usual, and you can make the most of your mind with help.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) can strive to be more productive with Jupiter direct, and you can take a practical approach to everything you do. That can lead to getting further along with a goal, and being confident in your direction.
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) may use extra creativity with Jupiter direct, and focus on connecting to what you enjoy. You can be positive, open, and willing to push for what you want for yourself.
4 Ways to Positively Use Jupiter Direct
1. Take care of yourself emotionally.
Since emotions can be strong with this Jupiter direct, make sure you’re taking care of yourself emotionally. You likely need to give yourself that kind of attention, and when you do, you can open up more possibilities for your goals.
Take the time to be alone, to listen to your inner self, and to see what it is you need most right now.
2. Make yourself comfortable.
Cancer loathes anything too brand new, yet we’re in a period where we’re experiencing a major paradigm shift, which means big changes for all of us. That can make Cancer deeply uncomfortable, which makes it difficult to use the opportunities available with Jupiter.
The way to mitigate this is to make yourself comfortable, even as you’re embarking on big, bold, and scary new ventures. Take the time you need to be comfortable each day, even if just for a moment, so you can reset and stay focused.
3. Don’t dwell on negative feelings.
Jupiter is the optimistic planet, so it’s not great to focus on the negatives. In Cancer, that means we shouldn’t dwell on negative feelings, and try to see the bright side of situations.
That doesn’t mean we completely ignore the negative emotions, only that we don’t get stuck in them. Since Jupiter’s base energy is to expand, it can sometimes expand on the bad, and then we get stuck.
Don’t do that. Pay attention to the good!
4. Strengthen your support system.
Having a solid support system can go a long way, and that very much makes Cancer happy, so take a look at the support system you have now and see how you can improve. If it’s already really good, show appreciation to those who support you, and nurture the connections.
If it’s not good, try to figure out the cause for that and what you can do now to fix it. This might take some time, so go easy on yourself as you build out the support system you need to create the new life you’re embarking on.
Have a fantastic Jupiter Direct!
Since Jupiter is the happy planet, Jupiter direct can be great for pursuing opportunities, expanding, and opening up your mind and heart to new experiences with an optimistic approach.
We’re in the middle of the major paradigm shift, and this can be a hugely positive thing if we do it right. Jupiter now comes to our aid and helps open up lots of new doors for us all.
