Everything You Need to Know About All the MAJOR 2026 Moon Events

A woman with long black hair wearing a red top stands slightly in front of a large moon-like orb, representing the 2026 moon events.

Here comes 2026, and with a new year, we get all new astrology – including all new Full Moons, New Moons, and eclipses!

Full Moons occur when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are opposite one another, so they are in exact opposite positions in the zodiac. With the Moon ruling emotions and the Sun ruling the self, this is at odds, so emotions run high. Full Moons bring endings and culminations.

Meanwhile New Moons occur when the transit Sun and Moon conjunct, or align, in the zodiac. New Moons are energizing, enthusiastic, and prompt us to take action with what we want to start. This is a time of new beginnings.

We go back and forth from one New Moon to one Full Moon and back to a New Moon and then Full Moon. This switches roughly every two weeks. About every six months, we have eclipses, and Lunar Eclipses occur with Full Moons while Solar Eclipses occur with New Moons.

New and Full Moons have an impact for about 2 weeks before and after, but eclipses have an impact up to six months before and after. Their bigger window to have an effect on us means they can pack a bigger punch, and can trigger life-changing opportunities, decisions, plans, ideas, and results.

We have one New Moon and one Full Moon about every month, and it totals about 12-13 of each every year. We have about 4-6 eclipses every year, and in 2026, it’ll be four, two Solar Eclipses and two Lunar Eclipses.

The 2026 Eclipses Wrap Up With Pisces and Move to Aquarius & Leo

We often have four eclipses each year, two of each, and that happens as normal in 2026. The 2026 eclipses will each occur in different zodiac signs: Leo, Virgo, Aquarius, and Pisces. Eclipses occur in pairs of opposing signs, and we end Pisces eclipses (there will be one more in Virgo in 2027), and start up with Leo-Aquarius.

Solar Eclipse in Aquarius: February 17th, 2026

This Aquarius Solar Eclipse is the first of a new eclipse set, and this is the first Aquarius eclipse we’ve had since 2018. Aquarius rules change, the future, and is unconventional, different, and eccentric.

This Solar Eclipse is likely to be great for a big change that pushes us into a new beginning in our lives. This is perfectly timed with Saturn and Neptune both officially entering Aries around this time, and we’re ushering in a whole new paradigm for the world.

We can embrace doing things in new, different ways that might have seemed too “out there” in the past, but can make perfect sense now. A lot has changed since the last Aquarius Solar Eclipse eight years prior, and this eclipse can be a catalyst for a whole new direction.

This eclipse is square (challenging aspect) Uranus, who happens to be the natural ruling planet of Aquarius. That means this eclipse is even bigger for change, because hard Uranus aspects often trigger huge changes.

We can feel so motivated to make the changes that are needed, and with the square to Uranus, we can do this with the things that have become stale, stuck, and stubborn. Focus on an area of your life that hasn’t budged or where you’ve been in a big rut, and use this eclipse to break free and go.

Uranus is also at the end of Taurus for this eclipse, and is the last planet to change signs as it moves to Gemini in April. A lot of the energy for the first few months of the year is focused on closing one big chapter and starting another big one.

Before this eclipse, we have an Aquarius stellium, which is when three or more planets are together in one sign. Stelliums are concentrated energy, so this is focused on the changes we’re working on and want to make that will usher in a brand new future.

That focus can begin with the Aquarius stellium starting mid-January, and it really blows up big and wide with Saturn and Neptune aligning and this Aquarius Solar Eclipse in February.

This eclipse is also very late in Aquarius, almost anaretic. There are 30 degrees in every zodiac sign, and 29 degrees is the last degree and called the anaretic degree. This is supercharged energy, and often makes for even bigger energy to work with.

This eclipse is at 28 degrees 50 minutes, so it’s only 10 minutes from being anaretic. Just shy, but we’re probably still going to feel it as being supercharged thanks to all of the other energy in play too.

So, focus on what you can change with this eclipse, and make it something really big to usher in your new future.

Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: March 3rd, 2026

Virgo Lunar Eclipses tend to be great for getting things done! Virgo is highly productive while Lunar Eclipses are times for endings, so it naturally leads to finishing lots of smaller tasks, chores, and projects, however they may be more important even if they’re just smaller in scope.

The downside of Virgo Lunar Eclipses is stress. We tend to be perfectionists under Virgo energy, and the Lunar Eclipse makes it more emotional, so we can get overwhelmed easily and demand way more of ourselves than is possible.

If we can avoid doing that, the Virgo Lunar Eclipse can be really helpful for clearing our list of things to get done, BUT this eclipse comes with Mercury retrograde.

Mercury is the natural ruling planet for Virgo, and while retrograde, it’s appearing to move backward and gets thrown off. With the ruler being retrograde for this eclipse, that means we might have a harder time getting some of those tasks, chores, and projects done, and we have to take a different approach.

It also means we may go too far in what we demand of ourselves, and need to work on prioritizing breaks to avoid breaking down, and taking care of ourselves.

Retrogrades are times for redos, so this Virgo Lunar Eclipse might bring opportunities for second chances with smaller projects that we’d like another shot at. This can be a great thing to do with the eclipse, and we can accomplish it now.

The eclipse is sextile (beneficial aspect) Jupiter in Cancer, which is also retrograde for this eclipse, but that ends one week later on March 10th. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and opportunity, and is optimistic and happy-go-lucky, so this does help us avoid going too far with stressors and demands.

Getting some space can be helpful with this eclipse and Jupiter, and trying to keep an eye on the big picture can help with some of the messy details. Getting the little things done can pave the way for new beginnings, and we can feel our loads become lighter.

Solar Eclipse in Leo: August 12th, 2026

The second Solar Eclipse for the year comes in Leo, the sign of love and creativity, fun and play, so this is a great eclipse for creative projects and ventures, new romance, and new hobbies. It’s great for a vacation and getaway, and for reconnecting with your inner child.

This is great energy for the good in life, and it can feel really good with Mercury just in Leo after a prolonged stay in Cancer, and Jupiter now in Leo for this eclipse. Lots of good vibes and happy energy, and it can be a great time of the year.

The eclipse is widely trine (beneficial aspect) Saturn in Aries, so this feel-good energy can also be put to productive use. Creativity can be used with work and goals, and inspiration can come along that helps you succeed and make progress on your path in life.

The first few months of the year are jam-packed for change, and that can be a lot, so this Leo Solar Eclipse can be a breath of fresh air and shines a light on the good that is unfolding.

Lunar Eclipse in Pisces: August 28th, 2026

The final eclipse for the year is a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, and this is the third and final Pisces Lunar Eclipse. We previously had one in September 2024 and a second in September 2025, and this has been major energy for sweeping out the old, closing the book, and releasing.

This may have been spiritually, karmically, emotionally, or mentally, and not something that seemed all that obvious on the outside and in the physical world. Yet it has led to the space needed for the big change and the new paradigm shift.

Pisces is highly spiritual and karmic; it’s also the very last sign of the zodiac, so it along with Lunar Eclipses are associated with endings. So, the last few years have had heavy karmic energy as we’ve released baggage, awakened, and become enlightened.

We’re now coming to the end with this eclipse, and it’s the last one, so we’ve been working with this energy for a while, and we’re focused on moving on.

This eclipse is semisextile (beneficial minor aspect) Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius, so we can be more connected with this big shift in energy on a soul level with Neptune, and can feel the innate transformation with Pluto.

The eclipse is also square Uranus in Gemini, like the February Aquarius Solar Eclipse, but that’s with Uranus in Taurus. So both the first and last eclipses of the year square Uranus, and the Aquarius Solar Eclipse might be triggering the start of getting unstuck and out of a rut, and this might culminate or see major developments with the Pisces Lunar Eclipse.

This eclipse is also opposite Mercury in Virgo, so we do have to keep an open mind, stay flexible, and weigh all our options as we move along.

Important New & Full Moons in 2026

Outside of the eclipses, these are the New and Full Moons in 2026 that can also be important and you should pay attention to:

New Moon in Capricorn: January 18th, 2026

The first New Moon of the year comes in Capricorn, sign of goals and direction, so we’re extra focused and ready for a new direction and excited by new goals. This New Moon is also trine Uranus in Taurus, and sextile Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, so it’s positively hitting all three when they’re at the very end of these signs.

While we’re excited by the new direction, much of the new goals might have a purpose to help with clearing out, closing up, releasing, and moving into the new direction. Any change in direction can be to help with closing the books and getting ready for what’s to come.

The New Moon is also widely conjunct Mars in Capricorn, so there is plenty of energy, drive, and enthusiasm for whatever we’re working on, and we can take the initiative with it.

New Moon in Aries: April 17th, 2026

The Aries New Moon comes with Saturn and Neptune now both in Aries, so the New Moon can add positive energy and helps with the focus on new beginnings and changes. We can take advantage of any opportunities we have, and can take the lead.

Uranus is also anaretic in Taurus at the time of this New Moon, which begins on April 5th and lasts until April 25th. Motivation can be extra strong for change, for action, and we can scramble to get things done.

It’s one more push to close one chapter and start another.

Full Moon in Aquarius: July 29th, 2026

This Aquarius Full Moon is conjunct Pluto in Aquarius, so this Full Moon is more intense emotionally and super passionate. There can be developments with changes that can be sudden or unexpected, and we have to be flexible.

The Full Moon can make us more passionate about the future, about being independent, or about the unconventional. We can strike out in some way, and our wills can be strong and forceful.

Full Moon in Aries: September 26th, 2026

The Aries Full Moon is conjunct Neptune in Aries, so it can stir up some subconscious issues and baggage impacting our ability to be true to ourselves, to be independent, or to forge our own paths. We have to have better connections to our intuition, and follow our inner selves.

The Full Moon is sextile (beneficial aspect) Uranus in Gemini, so there is help from Uranus, and we can see positive developments with changes, and doing things in different ways can be of help.

The ruler of Aries, Mars, is anaretic for this Full Moon at 29 degrees Cancer, and enters Leo the next day on September 27th. This can supercharge the energy, making us more motivated to take action, and we can make something tangible.

We just have to make sure we’re not too subjective, otherwise we might lash out irrationally and act impulsively, which only creates problems. If we can harness the energy, it can become productive.

New Moon in Libra (October 10th), Full Moon in Taurus (October 26th), & New Moon in Scorpio (November 9th)

I put these three together but they all tie into the Mercury and Venus retrogrades at this point in the year. The October 10th Libra New Moon comes with ruler Venus having gone retrograde, so there can be opportunities for second chances with this New Moon, and we have to take a different approach.

The Taurus Full Moon comes two days after Mercury retrograde starts, and one day after Venus retrogrades back to Libra and is anaretic. Taurus is naturally ruled by Venus, so we can feel extra insecure, unsettled, and stubborn, and need to take better care of ourselves.

With the Mercury retrograde having just started, we likely need to open our minds and not get stuck on anything being a certain way.

The Full Moon is also square Pluto, so there can be some challenging energy to work through, and we have to make sure we’re being productive with passion.

The last one, the Scorpio New Moon, comes with Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, and follows after Venus was retrograde in Scorpio. It can provide more opportunities for second chances, and a second look at developments or situations.

Full Moon in Gemini: November 24th, 2026

The Gemini Full Moon is conjunct Uranus in Gemini, so this Full Moon can trigger developments with change. We can be inspired to work on this, and this might be as a result of what came to pass during the Mercury and Venus retrogrades.

We still have to work on being productive and not impulsive, but if we can do that, we can really make great strides toward the future and our hopes and dreams.

Good luck with all of the 2026 energy!

So, that’s the list of the important New/Full Moons, and the impact of the four eclipses, in 2026. No matter what, be ready for the new paradigm shift and embrace your future as you release the baggage and move on from what’s been stuck for too long.
